My 2021 New year honours list…

Well that was a bit different wasn’t it?

Happy 2021 everyone.

I hope you and your families all enjoyed the strangest Xmas we’ll ever have.

Here in the UK we have “The New Year Honours List” whereby those people who have done extraordinary things are honoured and given a title, MBE, OBE Knighthood etc. for services to something or other.

I wanted to do the same as last year was like no other for our industry and although the first half of 2021 will be no picnic, we are moving towards the light at the end of the tunnel so I wanted to take stock and highlight those I’ve loved from afar.

So, in no particular order…

Gabrielle Austen-Browne – services to helping people understand that D&I isn’t a CSR tick box item and to do something about it
Helen Moon – services to mental health and helping everyone keep talking about how they’re feeling
Juliet Tripp – services to moving forward and a beacon of getting sh*t done
Julius Solaris – services to global discussions around the future of our industry
Martin Ellis – services to always being there for me as a mentor/friend with his wisdom in helping me avoid monumental fcuk ups
Martin Fullard – services to making sure our industry is heard and noticed
Meg Strahle – services to positivity and good thoughts for everyone in the sector
Sabrina Meyeres – services to being everything for everyone, everywhere all in the best way possible
Stephen Murtagh – services to showing complete and utter honesty about what it’s like looking for work during this nightmare and inspiring a tonne of people
Toni Young and Anna-Marie Trzebinski  – services to making the best out of a sh*tty situation and putting themselves out there to help others
Will Grashoff – services to disproving the notion that all contingency recruiters are d*cks

Excluded UK and Forgotten Ltd – services to us 3million still looking for parity not charity
The MIA – services to our industry and keeping the conversation going at the top tables
The entire community – we’ve all come together to support one another, and I hope this spirit continues long after this crisis has finished

Last but not least and if you know our honours list, you’ll know its cronyism at its finest so I’m allowed to do this.

Sidonie Kenward – services to being the best mother, wife, friend and most importantly, the best human I’ve ever met.

Well done and thankyou to everyone on the list and my wider connections for keeping me going through the tough times and smiling through the better ones.

We do need to understand that 2021 will not be the cakewalk a lot of people are heralding, we’re not out of the woods yet.

But trust me, if we show just half the fortitude we did last year, this year will be a walk in the park.
