Please don’t act like an ostrich in 2021…

Look, I’m a positive person.

Jeez, I’m a recruiter in the decimated #eventprofs #experientialmarketing sectors so I have to see the good in most things otherwise I’d stay in bed.

But one thing I’m not, is an ostrich.

Burying your head in the sand won’t help.

Nor will listening to all these unicorn vomiting fluffy mouthpieces harking “2021 is gonna be your year” and “if you dream it, it will happen”.


Because false hope can be damaging.

It’s worse than pragmatism.

We are currently in the eye of the storm.

Good things are on the horizon.

A vaccine, a timeline, no Trump etc.


And there is always a but, we’ve still got at least 3-6 months’ worth of drama ahead.

This is not negativity.

It’s realism.

Too many people are ringing the bell declaring this thing is over and our sector will jump back up in Q1.

It’s not and it won’t, and if everyone goes into 2021 thinking its full steam ahead and everything will be sunshine and lollipops immediately…

Well, let’s just say the state of people’s mental health is going to be a lot worse than if they planned for moving forward a day at a time.

Bottom line, we’re on our arse now, next year is about getting back to our knees and 2022 we can get back on our feet.

Like good old Jack Reacher says…

“plan for the worst and hope for the best”
