Need, deserve, want
Whether you decide to ‘stick’ or ‘twist’, being equipped to handle salary negotiations will be very important. If you twist, then you will have to negotiate a salary with a new employer; if you are happy to stick with your current employer, then you may want to negotiate a pay rise.

Robert Kenward, chief cheerleader and founder of The Hub Jobs and chief talent officer of YOU Search and Select, found the time in his busy schedule to answer your recruitment questions.
IS THERE ACTUALLY A TALENT SHORTAGE? A WRITEUP
Robert Kenward opens the session with a controversial statement. There is not, he says, a talent shortage, but instead a shortage of realistic expectations from employers. He asks the attendees what makes them think there is a talent shortage.

In series two of his fortnightly ‘Ask me anything’ series, Robert will endeavour to explain all things recruitment, from best techniques to the dos and don’ts. In episode three, he answers a recruiter’s question: “Should I use psychometric testing* as a decision-making tool?”
Getting into the events industry
This is probably the best time ever to get into the events industry; a lot of talent has left and many businesses don’t have the budget to employ people with lots of experience, so therefore there are more graduate level and junior jobs available.

Confex Keynote: The big fat recruitment debate
For our final session, Robert Kenward, chief cheerleader and founder, The Hub, Mike Frost, co-founder, Expocast, Natasha Layal, co-founder, Expocast and Sian Kelly, recruitment manager, Hyve, discuss ‘the big fat recruitment debate’.
Recruitment: new platform will “revolutionise” the way the industry finds talent
A new recruitment platform designed specifically for the events and experiences industry launched, 30 November.
The Hub, its founder says, will “revolutionise” the way in which the industry finds talent and has been created to connect employers and recruiters to active and pre-qualified candidates via a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform: a cloud-based method of providing a service. It is the first time such a platform has been used for recruitment in the events industry.
